Arm Lift | Brachioplasty

Improve The Contours And Overall Appearance Of Your Upper Arms.

Inspiring Confidence, Improving Looks & Changing Lives

Reshaping upper arms by tightening or removing sagging, excess skin in the area.

If you desire firmer, younger-looking arms, you may be a good candidate for an arm lift at our Ace Plastic Surgery practice in Mombasa, Kenya. Sagging skin on the upper arms is a common effect of aging. An arm lift can tighten and smooth loose skin. And when combined with liposuction, the surgery can reduce excess pockets of fat.

Due to Dr. Peter’s expertise in body contouring, he routinely performs surgical body procedures, including arm lift (Brachioplasty).

Depending on a patient’s goals, multiple surgical body procedures can be combined or performed in succession, where appropriate such as in major weight loss cases (body lift, arm lift, SAFE liposuction) or post-pregnancy mommy makeovers (abdominoplasty with SAFE liposuction plus breast procedure). Visit us at Ace Plastic Surgery, Mombasa, Kenya, for a private consultation to increase your self-confidence and sculpt your desired shape.

An arm lift, or Brachioplasty, reshapes the upper arm to tighten loose skin and remove fat that often creates a sagging appearance under the arm. Removing the excess skin caused by weight loss or natural aging can improve the appearance of the underarm area to the elbow.

The Arm Lift (Brachioplasty) in Kenya helps many women refine body contours to achieve a proportional, fit appearance and a more confident, youthful self-image.

Benefits of Brachioplasty

Upper arm skin is very delicate, thin and not very resilient, which is why it is common to see some amount of drooping skin as one ages. That is why no matter how hard you try it is often impossible to get rid of the excess sagging skin on your arms using exercise alone. Our arms are a visible part of the body that we use to express ourselves; An arm lift can be a very rewarding procedure improving confidence and comfort.

A brachioplasty is a relatively straightforward procedure that poses few risks and offers patients a relatively easy recovery. The best way to determine if you’re a candidate for an arm lift is to request a consultation.

Below, we’ve included some of the advantages we’ve seen firsthand.

Attractive Upper Arms

Naturally, the primary benefit of a brachioplasty procedure involves establishing tighter, more youthful-looking arms that counter the effects of the aging process.

IMPROVED SKIN CONTOUR

By improving skin contour, a brachioplasty procedure will make it easier to find clothing that makes patients feel comfortable, such as short-sleeve blouses, dresses, and tank tops.

Decreased Irregularities

Tighter, more attractive upper arm skin will make irregularities far less apparent.

RESTORE CONFIDENCE

Fundamentally, a brachioplasty is designed to boost self-confidence by defining and uplifting the shape of the arms.

ACE ARM LIFT

Brachioplasty, also known as an arm lift, is a surgical procedure aiming at reshaping and improving the contour of the upper arms by tightening or removing sagging, excess skin in the area. In the case of excess fat deposits, skin tightening can be combined with liposuction to reshape the arms, revealing a more pleasing and youthful look.

What is Brachioplasty?

Brachioplasty, also known as upper arm lift, is a surgical procedure that improves the contour and shape of the arms through the removal of excess skin and fat in the upper arm. This is suitable for people who have undergone dramatic weight loss and for those who simply want to reshape their arms to look more attractive.

An arm lift procedure can do the following:

  • Reduce the sagging skin that droop downward from the arm
  • Reduce the pockets of fat found in the upper arms
  • Tighten the supportive tissue on the upper arm, giving it a more defined look

What Can I Expect During A Consultation?

During your consultation be prepared to discuss:

  • Your surgical goals
  • Medical conditions, drug allergies and medical treatments

Arm Lift Procedure

A brachioplasty is performed using a linear incision placed discretely either on the backside or the underside of the arm, extending from the armpit to the elbow. Using this incision, Ace Plastic Surgery surgeons are able to remove all excess skin and create a new contour that follows your underlying musculature.

Excess fat in the arms may be removed, or in some cases, treated using liposuction. The underlying supportive tissue is tightened and reshaped using internal sutures. Excess skin is tightened and trimmed, and the remaining skin is sutured in place using sutures that will be absorbed by the body.

The Traditional Arm Lift

In a traditional arm lift, the incision is made on the underside of the arm. This provides your surgeon access to removing larger areas of loose skin.

The Extended Arm Lift

In an extended arm lift, the incision is extended along the arm and continued below the armpit in order to remove loose skin and fatty tissue along the chest wall area. This technique is most commonly used in patients who have lost large amounts of weight.

In both procedures, there are many different types of arm lifts that depend on your specific circumstances, where our team will discuss the various options with you.

Are You a Good Candidate?

Arm lift surgery can be performed on a large variety of patients. The majority of patients present with excel skin and fat in their upper arms and complain that their arms feel and look like “bat wings”. Some older women who have extra skin that is bothersome and desire a better arm contour are potential candidates.

How to Prepare for An Arm Lift

In preparing for surgery, you may be asked to:

  • Get lab testing or a medical evaluation
  • Take certain medications or adjust your current medications
  • Stop smoking
  • Avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs and herbal supplements as they can increase bleeding

What Can I Expect in My Arm Lift Recovery?

After the procedure, patients can expect swelling and bruising. The discomfort from the procedure will be managed by pain medication prescribed by the Ace Plastic Surgery team. In some cases, the surgeon will place drainage tubes in order to help remove any excess fluid that forms over the first several days after surgery. For the first few nights after surgery you will be instructed to sleep with your arms in a raised position to reduce swelling and prevent the incisions from opening. Compression bandages are often worn to help promote healing.

You will wear compression garments on your arms to maintain the shape during the two to four week recovery. You may experience swelling and bruising and the discomfort you feel will be managed with medication.

Scarring will most likely be under your upper arm. You’ll get scar therapy, which you can start shortly after your surgery.

What Will My Brachioplasty Scars Look Like?

As with any surgical procedure, there will be some residual scarring from your Arm lift. However, our plastic surgeons take every precaution to keep incision lines as concealed as possible. Typically, Your scars will be located on the underside of your upper arms, extending from your arm pit to your elbows. The length of your scar depends on how much correction was done.

How Long Will the Results of My Arm lift Last?

The results of your Arm lift should last for many years. You’ll probably see an immediate improvement but swelling and bruising will hide your results. Wait a couple of months to see your initial results, and about 6 months or so to see your optimal results.

What Risks Are Associated with Brachioplasty?

There are a few risks associated with arm lift surgery. There is potential for delayed healing, abnormal scarring, asymmetry and small irregularities. During your consultation, we will review all the potential complications and the steps we take to minimize any risks.
